 NYS BPA   News

If you are not presently a member of the New York State Bowling Proprietors Association, we encourage you to become a member.  Without a strong and active trade association, the bowling industry in New York State would face perilous times ahead.  When you consider our many accomplishments over the past several years, the challenges which stand before us, and the many benefits offered by our Association, you'll realize it's a wise move to join the New York State BPA.

Who can join the NYS BPA?

.....any Person, Partnership or Corporation that is engaged in the business of maintaining and operating a bowling establishment for public use.

Former BPAA President Jack Moran to be honored with Victor Lerner Memorial Medal.  Seven others to be recognized during international Bowl Expo in Las Vegas in June.

The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), has announced that Jack Moran of Canandaigua, NY is the recipient of the 2013 Victor Lerner Memorial Medal.  Seven others will be recognized with BPAA Industry Service Awards during BPAA's annual meeting June 24 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The Lerner award will be presented at a special ceremony Wednesday morning, June 26.

"Each year the Awards Committee is challenged with many candidates in each category and this year was no different,"  said BPAA President, Cathy DeSocio.  "Each nominee is deserving on their own, which make the committee's work a challenge.  This year the BPAA Awards Committee has taken the opportunity to recognize those individuals who are dedicated and passionate about every aspect of the bowling industry from national league promotions to national media coverage, from grassroots legislative efforts to a grassroots ambassador of the game.  The list includes a new tournament concept for a growing segment of our bowlers, a devoted chronicler of our industry and gentleman whose tireless dedication to BPAA is unquestionable."

International Bowl Expo is the premier industry event attracting bowling center owners, proprietors, managers and industry partners from around the world.  In 2013 the event will be held June 23-27.  The trade show will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center Wednesday and Thursday, June 26-27.

Crystal Lanes in Corning, N.Y. got some nice publicity for hosting the annual Bowling for Bigs and Littles recently. The event, which raised $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chemung County, is the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year.  Check out the story.

NYS BPA President Rick O'Neil won first prize in an "Olympic Trivia" contest conducted recently at the BPAA Summit in San Antonio by Keynote Speaker, Rowdy Gaines. Gaines, an Olympic gold metal swimmer and swimming broadcaster concluded his remarks, "Awaken the Olympian Within" with the contest.  With more than 400 folks participating in the contest, Rick was the "last man standing."  Rick won a signed copy of Gaines' most recent book and a bottle of wine!
